History of the Pomeranian
Pomeranians really did come from Pomerania - an area now considered part of northern Germany and Poland. The ancestors of the breed we know and love today were of Nordic descent, and they weighed between 20 and 30 pounds on average. They had both herding and sledding abilities, which account for the harsh double coat they still carry today.
The credit for miniaturizing the breed goes to Queen Victoria during her reign in England. Not surprising that these little companions still consider themselves "Royalty".
